Defining Clear's voice with motion

During my two-month collaboration with Clear, I focused on defining the digital product's motion voice, creating a cohesive and engaging user experience. By establishing a clear motion design language, I ensured that every animation reflected the brand's identity and enhanced user interaction. This involved a deep dive into the product’s functionality and user journey, allowing me to craft animations that not only looked visually appealing but also served practical purposes within the application.

To facilitate the design process, I utilized Figma to build static screens that illustrated the user flow, providing engineers with a clear visual reference for the intended experience. This collaborative approach ensured that all team members were aligned on the project vision, streamlining communication and feedback. Following the static design phase, I leveraged After Effects to animate the various states—load states, end states, and intro states—each tailored to guide users seamlessly through their interactions. The load states featured smooth transitions that maintained user engagement during wait times, while end states provided satisfying conclusions to tasks, reinforcing a sense of achievement.

Additionally, I developed animations for critical moments, such as camera capture events, ensuring that these interactions were not only functional but also delightful. By incorporating playful yet purposeful motion, I aimed to elevate the overall user experience and align with Clear’s commitment to innovation. This project not only sharpened my skills in animation and motion design but also deepened my understanding of how dynamic visuals can significantly impact user engagement and satisfaction, all while utilizing a combination of Figma for design and After Effects for execution.

This work will be followed up by bringing this animation system to the airport kiosks and various digital experiences to make the Clear brand have motion moments that feel familiar and are seen throughout all digital products.
