Streamlining Operations: Designing an Admin Dashboard for Bark Social

The project centered around designing an admin dashboard for Bark Social, a dog daycare center that offers a range of services, including food and drinks for customers. The goal was to create a comprehensive and user-friendly interface that would enable Bark Social employees to efficiently manage customer check-ins, access vital information, and track metrics across different park locations. The dashboard was designed to enhance operational efficiency and provide employees with the tools they need to deliver exceptional service.

Design Process
The design process began with understanding the specific needs of Bark Social employees and the operational workflows of the daycare center. This involved conducting interviews and gathering feedback from staff to identify key functionalities required for the dashboard. The main features included the ability to look up and check in customers bringing their dogs to the facility, manage day passes, update user information, and switch between different park locations to view revenue and operational metrics. With this information, we moved on to creating wireframes and prototypes to map out the user interface and ensure it met the needs of the employees.The UI design focused on creating an intuitive and streamlined experience. Employees can easily search for and check in customers, manage day passes, and edit user details from a centralized interface. The dashboard also includes functionality to switch between various park locations, allowing staff to access location-specific data such as revenue and operational metrics. This feature enables Bark Social to monitor performance across different sites effectively. Throughout the design process, usability testing was conducted to refine the interface, ensuring that it was both efficient and user-friendly. The final design not only simplifies daily administrative tasks but also provides valuable insights into the operations of each park, supporting Bark Social in delivering high-quality service and making data-driven decisions.

Employees of Bark Social can view a Dashboard which allows them to select Dogs, Customers, and Menu to view and edit. Above shows a specific park selected and the ability to edit Promo Codes, Events, and FAQ.

Promo Codes can be created for a speicifc location that allow discounts to be added for customers on products, entry, and menu items.

Park Selection is easily available via a dropdown from anywhere on the Admin site. The employee can either view the park from the list or change to make that park their defaulted location.

Park Selection allows for viewing a location, and making it the default from a button state. From the View, an employee can see all of the info from that specific park.

The Dogs tab within the admin dashboard is a crucial feature designed to streamline the management of individual dogs at Bark Social. Employees can easily navigate to this tab to view a comprehensive list of all dogs registered in the system. The intuitive search functionality allows staff to quickly look up a specific dog by name or owner, providing immediate access to detailed information. Upon selecting a dog, employees can view and edit the dog's profile, which includes essential details such as breed, age, medical information, and owner contact information.

In addition to viewing profile information, employees can manually edit the dog's pass expiration date, ensuring that all passes are up-to-date and accurately reflect the dog's current status. This flexibility is particularly useful for managing day passes and memberships, allowing staff to accommodate special requests or make necessary adjustments on the spot. The ability to update and maintain accurate records helps Bark Social provide personalized and attentive care to each dog, enhancing the overall customer experience.

The Customers tab within the admin dashboard is an essential feature designed to facilitate the management of dog owners at Bark Social. Employees can easily navigate to this tab to view a comprehensive list of all customers registered in the system. The intuitive search functionality allows staff to quickly look up a specific customer by name or contact details, providing immediate access to detailed information. Upon selecting a customer, employees can view and edit the customer’s profile, which includes essential details such as contact information, membership status, and any notes on preferences or special requests.

In addition to viewing profile information, employees can manually update the customer's day pass or membership expiration date, ensuring that all passes are up-to-date and accurately reflect the customer's current status. This flexibility is particularly useful for managing memberships and day passes, allowing staff to accommodate special requests or make necessary adjustments quickly. The ability to update and maintain accurate records helps Bark Social provide personalized and attentive service to each customer, enhancing their overall experience and satisfaction.

The check-in feature is a vital component of the admin dashboard, designed to streamline the process of admitting dogs into Bark Social. Employees can utilize a QR scanner to quickly check in dogs as they enter the facility, making the process efficient and contactless. Each dog is assigned a unique QR code linked to their profile, allowing for instantaneous retrieval of their information upon scanning. This ensures a swift check-in process and minimizes waiting times for customers.Alternatively, employees can manually look up a dog by either the dog's name or the owner's name using the search functionality. This flexibility is essential for instances where the QR code may not be readily available. Once the dog is located in the system, employees can confirm the check-in with a simple click, updating the dog's status in real-time. This dual approach to check-ins—via QR scanner or manual search—ensures that Bark Social can maintain an efficient and organized entry process, providing a seamless experience for both the staff and the customers.
